The amethysts from Uruguay are particularly prized for their deep, rich color and clarity; and also their high quality and unique coloration consisting of a deep rich purple. This color is due to the presence of iron and manganese impurities within the quartz crystal lattice.
Amethyst is known as a natural tranquilizer believed to have a soothing effect on the mind and body and may be helpful for promoting relaxation and restful sleep.
